The Loki statue is an amazing piece sculpted by the Kucharek brothers and released in 2008, with a run limited to 1250 samples. In my humble opinion, with the Classic version of Thor and the Odin statue, it constitutes one of the finest "trio" among all Marvel collectibles and a group with an undisputable charm for all fans of the Silver Age of Comics. The statue is based on a well-known table designed by the master John Buscema: it depicts the contemptible God of deceit sitting on a large throne, equipped with a fur coat, and probably conceiving some devilish plot... The pose exhibits a great realism and naturalness: the character, in fact, sits comfortably, with both legs bent and relaxed, by exploiting the presence of a frontal step and resting both elbows on the wide armrests. The right arm is slightly raised with a semi-open hand, while the left one is stretched foreward and offers the possibility to change the display, since the piece is provided with two fine, interchangeable hands: the first with a fine copper goblet of conical shape (as in the original table of Buscema), and the second holding a tall trident, which notably increases the space requested for display. The body of Loki is slender and powerful, with well-defined muscles on chest, arms and legs. The coloring is excellent and faithful to Comics: the suit shows a dominant, bright green, background color which gives a great chromatic contrast with the gold tone on boots, gloves and the central part of the suit, enriched by a finely texturized weave. The figure is completed by a simple golden belt, a star-shaped patch at neck level and, of course, the typical helmet of the character, constituted by a spherical shell and two huge, curved horns, while long, blond braid falls on the character's chest. The base, as said, is a large throne with a stone appearance, equipped with many decorations on all sides and two steps which emphasized its regal and imposing look; note the many cracks scattered everywhere and the good contrast of the grey color with the background white tonality of the fur coat, sculpted and painted in a masterful way. Also the face of Loki is very well finished, with curved abd long eyebrows, a large and closed mouth and a hooked nose, which give the face a disturbing expressiveness. The Loki statue is very appreciated by most of Marvel collectors, as confirmed by the prices and the rather poor availability on market. A beautiful, original piece and a must-have for all fans of the Asgardian adventures!
